"Get with the Guidelines" Stroke Quality Initiative from American Stroke Association - Silver award
The AHA's "Get With The Guidelines" stroke initiative aims at educating patients soon after having a stroke, when they are most likely to listen and follow their health practitioner's recommendations. Through the program, patients are offered customized education materials, based on their individual risk profile. Studies demonstrate that patients who are taught how to manage their risk factors for stroke while still hospitalized reduce their risk of a second stroke or heart attack. The Silver designation recognizes Inova Alexandria Hospital's performance over 12 consecutive months.
