This annual conference is designed to provide the most current information about the diagnosis, management, treatment, and recent advances in the field of stroke rehabilitation.  The course will be led by national and local healthcare providers who specialize in the management of stroke.  All healthcare providers who treat those with a stroke are recommended to attend the course.

OBJECTIVES

  • Concluding this program, participants will be able to:
  • Describe the advances in the medical management of acute stroke
  • State signs and symptoms of sleep apnea associated with an increased risk of stroke
  • State strategies to justify the medical necessity for an inpatient rehabilitation facility
  • Report recent updates in research for robot-assisted rehabilitation
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the literature as it relates to the use of mirror therapy as an intervention for post-stroke rehabilitation
  • List empathic communication strategies to assist in challenging patient situations
  • State an improved awareness for those living with a disability.

 

ACCREDITATION

Inova Mount Vernon Hospital is accredited by the Joint Commission. A certificate of attendance for 7.0 hours is given upon completion of the full-day program, enabling participants to register their credit with the appropriate licensing boards or organizations.

This activity has been submitted for approval to award 7.0 contact hour(s). The Inova Learning Network of Inova Health System is an approved provider of continuing nursing education by the Virginia Nurses Association Continuing Education approval Committee, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation.

This program has been submitted to The Commission for Case Manager Certification and the National Association of Social Workers (NASW) Virginia Chapter for approval for 7.0 clock hours for Case Managers and Social Workers.

CEUs, Contact Hours or Certificates of Attendance will only be available at the end of the conference and with completion of a course evaluation.
