Christine Candio, CEO, Inova Alexandria Hospital
Christine Candio is responsible for the overall management and implementation of the short and long-range strategic plan consistent with the Inova Health System objectives. Prior to coming to Inova Alexandria Hospital, Candio served as executive vice president of the Hallmark Health System in Melrose, Massachusetts.
Candio’s accomplishments over the years include an array of multi-million dollar new program development projects, program enhancements, system improvements resulting in new revenue generation, as well as improved customer/patient satisfaction. Additionally, Candio’s experience includes testifying before the New Jersey State Senate as a co-creator of the Monmouth County Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner Program, which was used as a model for future programs throughout the country.
She has been nominated as the 2013-2014 Chairman-Elect of the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE) and serves on the ACHE Board of Governors; she serves on the Board of The Alexandria Chamber of Commerce and the Technical and Adult Program Advisory Board for the Alexandria School System; she is a member of the Alexandria Rotary and a member of the Virginia Hospital & Healthcare Association Federal Advocacy Council. Candio has conducted numerous workshops and poster presentations at professional conferences throughout the country and is currently a faculty member of the Georgetown University Graduate Mentorship Program. She is also the past president of the Healthcare Management Association of Massachusetts, the official ACHE Chapter representing Massachusetts.
Candio holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from William Patterson College of New Jersey and a Master of Public Administration with a focus in Health Care Management from Farleigh Dickinson University.
