Geoff Brown, Senior Vice President, Chief Information Officer
Geoff Brown is SVP & CIO at Inova Health System. He has 35 consecutive years of progressive experience in Information Technology (IT), management, consulting, and strategic planning. Brown is in the unique position of having work experience as CIO in public, for profit and not-for-profit healthcare organizations. He is known for delivering real results through improved utilization of technology and people. Inova Health System (IHS) is the largest not-for-profit healthcare system in the Washington DC metropolitan area with history dating back to 1872.
IHS is a fully integrated healthcare delivery system with 1753 inpatient beds, 3367 physicians, 416 nursing home beds and serves as the safety net for northern Virginia families. IHS has frequently been named as one of the nations ‘Most Wired’ health care organizations by Hospitals & Health Networks. Most recently under Brown’s leadership, INOVA implemented the EPIC Enterprise EMR including clinical and revenue cycle deployment in all hospital and ambulatory care facilities. EPIC stated that Inova’s 26 month implementation was the most rapid implementation of their EMR for an organization in our category.
Prior to joining Inova, he served as Vice President and Chief Information Officer for Atlanta’s Grady Health System – one of the largest public health systems in the nation. Grady is an internationally recognized teaching hospital staffed exclusively by physicians from Emory University and Morehouse schools of medicine. Prior to that, he was an Associate Hospital Administrator & CIO at Tenet Health System’s Atlanta Medical Center (formerly known as Georgia Baptist) and South Fulton Medical Center.
Brown earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and was awarded an American Management Association Certification from Oglethorpe University in Atlanta, Georgia.
