The NICU Internship/Fellowship provides an introduction to care of the critically ill neonate. The program consists of a 12-week initial plan of didactic and clinical experiences with a preceptor where the orientee learns to care for neonates ranging in intensity from those preparing for discharge to neonates who are critically ill and on ventilatory support. After completion of this initial phase, clinical expectations are gradually increased over time as experience is gained. Fellows and interns complete the NRP course within the first year of employment.
