Inova Fairfax Hospital's pharmacy residency program has been ASHP accredited since 1990. The program is designed to prepare our residents to become pharmacy generalists so that they may pursue careers as patient care clinical pharmacists in a community hospital setting or to matriculate into a PGY-2 residency training program in their area of choice.
The primary emphasis of the PGY-1 pharmacy practice residency program is the development of practice skills that will influence residents' growth into a clinical pharmacist. Opportunities to focus residency training in specialty areas of medicine such as critical care, adult internal medicine and pediatrics are available.
Residents will be given the opportunity to develop and enhance their practice management and leadership skills through focused departmental responsibilities.
