Examples of current research from the Outcomes Research Program
- Assessment of fatigue in normal blood donors using self-reports to establish a database for normative data.
- Support for research assessing the degree of fatty liver in patients with coronary artery disease.
- Measurement of fatigue and activity level in persons with hepatitis C, hepatitis B and non-alcoholic liver disease. Methods for determining this include self-reports and objective measures of walk time and cardiac output.
- Testing the usefulness of temporal and spatial parameters in evaluating ambulation.
Plans for future studies from the Outcomes Research Program
- Measures of aerobic capacity in patients with a variety of diagnoses, using gas exchange methods.
- Measures of functional activity, using simulation activities of daily living, self-care, kitchen activities and food preparation.
- Measures of health status, mood and affect in chronic diseases.
