Examples of current research

1. Assessment of fatigue in normal blood donors using self-reports to establish a database for normative data.
2. Support for research assessing the degree of fatty liver in patients with coronary artery disease.
3. Measurement of fatigue and activity level in persons with hepatitis C, hepatitis B and non-alcoholic liver disease. Methods for determining this include self-reports and objective measures of walk time and cardiac output.
4. Testing the usefulness of temporal and spatial parameters in evaluating ambulation.

Plans for future studies

• Measures of aerobic capacity in patients with a variety of diagnoses, using gas exchange methods.
• Measures of functional activity, using simulation activities of daily living, self-care, kitchen activities and food preparation.
• Measures of health status, mood and affect in chronic diseases.
