Emergency Medicine Clerkship
Inova Fairfax Hospital Emergency Department and Inova Trauma Center offer 4-week rotations to fourth year medical students in general emergency medicine and pediatric emergency medicine.
Shifts occur onsite at Inova Fairfax Hospital Emergency Department and at stand-alone Inova Emergency Care Centers.
About Inova Fairfax Hospital emergency services
The Emergency Department and Trauma Center at Inova Fairfax Hospital is designated as a Level I trauma center by the Commonwealth of Virginia and the American College of Surgeons. In 2011 the hospital had 106,807 visits (75,058 adults, 33,099 pediatric), including 2,196 trauma activations, 1,000 trauma consults and 1,200 trauma admissions.
Inova Fairfax Hospital facilitates the largest volume of emergency care in Northern Virginia. Inova Emergency Care Centers are free-standing emergency departments located in the community.
