Application Process

Eligibility Requirements

  • 2004 graduate of a respiratory care program accredited by the Committee on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC).
  • Must be eligible for both the Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) and Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credentialing examinations administered by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC).

Employment Status

Interns and Fellows will become full-time employees of Inova Health System and will receive a salary commensurate with their education and experience. In addition, interns will be eligible for Inova Health System benefits. Candidates selected for an internship position must obtain a license to practice respiratory care in Virginia prior to the start of their employment.

Application and Selection Process

Candidates for the Respiratory Care Practitioner Internship/Fellowship Program should submit the following:

  • An official college transcript
  • A letter of recommendation from either the Program Director or the Director of Clinical Education of their respiratory care program.
  • A current resume accompanied by a one-page paper that describes why you wish to become a respiratory care intern and what you hope to accomplish at the completion of the program.

The official transcript, letter of recommendation, resume and paper should be mailed to:

Credential Awarded

Upon completion of the program, a certificate will be awarded from the Department of Respiratory Care Services.
