Program pluses: The main attraction for me was the diversity in the patient population. Every resident I spoke to while here for my interview mentioned the diversity. I knew I wanted to see a little bit of everything while I was training. I also knew that Inova had a strong peds program even though it isn’t a university-based program. I also liked the size of the class and knew I’d be most comfortable in a medium-sized program.

I chose Inova because it’s a great program, medium sized, part community hospital and part academic, in-house Peds EM fellowhip and has all the perks of being near DC without the struggle and cost of living downtown. Plus the ICCC continuity clinic is amazing – it’s a great place to continue my Spanish language skills while helping the local community at the same time.
