Russell P. Seneca, MD, is the Vice President of Academic Affairs for Inova Health System and as such is responsible for the educational and research, clinical and financial performance of the Academic Affairs program. In addition to his role as Vice President of Academic Affairs, Dr. Seneca is also the Associate Dean of Medical Education for the VCU School of Medicine Inova Campus. As Associate Dean, Dr. Seneca functions as the chief administrative officer and oversees the undergraduate program at the VCU School of Medicine Inova Campus. He is responsible for defining decision making processes, developing detailed capital and operational budgets as well as curriculum development. Dr. Seneca holds professorial positions with Georgetown University and George Washington University in Washington, DC, and Virginia Commonwealth University.
In addition to his academic roles Dr. Seneca is also the Associate Administrator of Perioperative Services for Inova Fairfax Hospital/Inova Fairfax Hospital for Children and Chairman of the Department of Surgery. His memberships include the American Board of Surgery, the American Medical Association, the Virginia Medical Society and the American College of Physician Executives. Dr. Seneca is also a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and the American College of Critical Care Medicine.
Dr. Seneca received an undergraduate degree from Providence College in Rhode Island, his medical degree from Georgetown University and his EMBA from George Mason University.

Craig Cheifetz, MD is currently the Assistant Dean for the Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine Inova Campus. In addition to his role as Assistant Dean, Dr. Cheifetz was recently appointed to the position of the Director of Undergraduate Medical Education for Inova Health System. Dr. Cheifetz received his Internal Medicine training at Georgetown School of Medicine. He has been an integral part of Inova Fairfax Hospital/Inova Fairfax Hospital for Children and its medical staff since completing his Chief Residency 6 years ago. His primary interest is as a clinical educator having completed both the Stanford Faculty Development Facilitators program for Clinical Teaching and the Harvard-Macy Program for Leaders in Medical Education. Dr. Cheifetz?s was instrumental in the formation of a successful faculty development program within the Department of Medicine at Inova Fairfax having trained more than 75 clinicians in the area of Clinical Teaching. Dr. Cheifetz is currently involved in projects relating to preparation and opening of the new medical campus for the Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine in Northern Virginia, which will be located on the Inova Fairfax Hospital/Inova Fairfax Hospital for Children campus. His activities are primarily focused on the integration of the VCU curriculum into Inova Fairfax Hospital and its medical staff, as well as, the development of student services, a new education building, and a state of the art simulation center.
