It is with sincere appreciation that I thank the Edelman Nursing Career Center for the continuing education award I received recently. I attended the three day conference of the Southeastern Seaboard Emergency Nursing Symposium in April 2007. The symposium provided instruction in clinical, forensics and emergency department leadership. Additionally, it provided the opportunity to network with ER nurses from VA,North and South Carolina, Georgia and Florida. Communication with peers from staff to leadership enables the exchange of valuable information that can impact positively across the nursing spectrum. Thank you for providing this opportunity.

Owing to the Edelman Nursing Career Scholarship, I am very enjoying the nursing program in George Mason University this semester though studying nursing is challenging. Receiving this scholarship is a great privilege for me to concentrate on studying nursing. I can spend my time to focus on studying more instead of working for earning my tuition. I really appreciate that the all donors provided a wonderful opportunity to be a good nurse.

Thank you for your generosity in donating funds to the Edelman Center for Nursing Education. I was granted funds to attend NTI in May of this year in Anaheim, CA. It was amazing to meet and network with so many other collegues in our nursing profession throughout the country. I learned alot that I was able to apply to my daily practice. I just wanted to thank you for the opportunity that I would not have otherwise had.

I wanted to extend my sincere thanks for all that you, the donors have done in allowing those of us who choose nursing to pursue our goals.
I have worked as an employee in the INOVA system for over a year now and am truly looking forward to completing my second degree BSN/RN program at Shenandoah University. I am eager to start my career with a hospital system which has fostered my professional development and contributed to my education. It has been quite a struggle to finance the costs of my nursing degree and the scholarship funds I received from the Edelman Center have truly aided me in this endeavor.

I want to thank you so much for your generosity that has enabled me to be a recipient of the Edelman scholarship for Advanced Practice this year. I am currently finishing up my Masters in Health System Administration at GMU and I appreciate the funds available that have enabled me to take extra classes this term. It was a great help to me personally as I used all of my financial assistance from Inova for the rest of the year in Spring term. Thank you so much!!

Thank you very much for the generous scholarship that you awarded to me. I am a second-degree nursing student who graduated with my AAS from Marymount in December and who is currently working on finishing my BSN. I am currently employed on the Telemetry unit at Fair Oaks hospital.When I initially decided to pursue a degree in nursing, I was employed as an IT consultant. I felt a calling to change careers but it was a very difficult decision for me and my husband to give up my salary and take on debt in order to make that change. However, almost two years later, we realize it was the best decision I could have made. It is very helpful to us to have some of my school debt paid for now through the scholarship. We are so thankful for the donations you have provided towards the scholarship.
I think it is wonderful that Edelman offers so many scholarships to new nurses. It is so important that we continue to attract people to the field and I think this scholarship program is one way of doing that.

Thank you so much for your generous support of nursing continuing education. I was fortunate to be able to attend National Teaching Institute sponsored by the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses in California this year. To our wonderful donors - I would like to thank you for your generosity through which I was able to attend an amazing conference. I went to the Sigma Theta Tau International Evidence-Based Nursing Conference in July. The content gave me tools I will use in my daily work to promote the use of clinical evidence in the care that we provide to patients. It also provided information on using this evidence to help create and maintain a healthy workplace which is very important to nursing satisfaction. I had the opportunity to be with nurses from literally around the world, including Australia and South Africa.

I am very proud to have represented my pediatric department at the Pediatric National Conference and I owe it all to the Edelman Nursing Career Development Center for awarding me with a grant to attend. It was an extremely inspiring experience that I cannot wait to share with my unit! Thanks to the center, a fire has been ignited within me to strive for excellence within my department and I hope to share the spark! On behalf of Inova Loudoun Hospital's Education Department, I would like to thank Inova Health System Prince Charitable Trusts. Through the Inova Institute for Nursing Excellence, our proposal for staff education was awarded a Nursing Morale Grant. The system winners were chosen based on "idea creativity, feasibility, and morale-boosting potential". Our winning proposal, the Inova Loudoun Hospital Nursing Salon, is a book club for nurses. According to Utne Reader's 2001 book "Salons: The Joy of Conversation", salons are "lively gatherings where people engage in big talk-talk that amuses, challenges, amazes, and sometimes is passionately acted upon." Through the Salon, nurses can come together and engage in thought-provoking conversation about interesting aspects of the nursing profession. The books (funded by the generous award) will provide the topics of discussion, but the group, sharing their thoughts and insights, will determine the direction of the conversation.

Thank you so much for your contributions to the Edelman Nursing Career Development Center. I have benefited personally from your contributions as a recipient of an Edelman Nursing Scholarship. This program is a wonderful asset for the Inova Health System. I am completing my doctorate in philosophy at the University of Virginia and work part-time at Inova Fairfax Hospital for Children. The scholarship has provided tuition assistance and allowed me to complete the research part of my studies without incurring more financial debt from student loans.
I am so grateful to those who donate money to the Edelman Nursing Scholarship Program. Dear Edelman Center,
I was able to attend a week long program on Mind-Body Medicine in October 2005. The information has been invaluable in setting up programs for our HRSA Grant Program. Some beneficial results have been:1. Reinforce evidence based practice for the HRSA Grant iniatiatives.
2. Use the most current research to guide lectures. (Lecture being given on March 7, 2006)
3. I have been able to recommend texts, CDs, films to supplement teaching materials.
4. Save time where I would have had to research on my own instead of material already researched and catergorized.Again, I greatly appreciate your generiosity and have shared the information with my colleagues.

I am a proud recipient of a scholarship awarded through the Edelman Nursing Career Development Center and I wanted to say thank you! I am thrilled to have completed my first semester and am excited to continue this 2nd degree program with George Mason University. The program is demanding and challenging...I wouldn't expect anything less. I am thankful and appreciative of the scholarship which helps to enable me, a mother of 3 small children, to attend school without the extra burden of "making tuition" each semester.
