The Inova Fairfax Hospital Woodburn Infusion Center specializes in intravenous (IV) treatments for ambulatory, self-care patients. We offer our patients a comfortable and convenient alternative to receiving infusion services in the hospital or in the emergency room. Patients receive their infusion in a comfortable recliner with heat and massage available. Warm blankets are available and we offer cable TV and free Wi-Fi/Internet access to help pass the time while receiving treatments. Additionally, patients are free to bring the own personal electronic devices (e.g., tablets, smartphones, laptop computers).
With an on-site lab and pharmacy, your treatment team will be able to answer any questions you have and will ensure the highest levels of safety and service. Therapies and treatments provided include, but are not limited to:
- Chemotherapy/biotherapy administration
- IV hydration and electrolyte replacement
- Blood product transfusion
- Immunosuppression prophylaxis and infection management
- Central venous catheter care
- Stem cell mobilization
- Pre and post transplant care
- Investigational therapies
- Patient education
The Center is operated by highly skilled registered nurses, nurse practitioners, lab and pharmacy staff with experience in the care of oncology patients and stem cell transplant patients.
Each patient is welcome to bring one visitor to the infusion room during their treatment. Space is limited. Visitors must be over 13 years of age. No children or infants are allowed. Patients and visitors must not have any contagious illness. Most of our patients are very susceptible to infections. We ask that you please not come to the infusion center if you are ill with anything that might be contagious. Please notify your physician of your illness and call us to reschedule your appointment. We encourage family members to participate in patient treatment. With certain medications, we may request a responsible adult stay for the duration of treatment in case the patient requires a ride home. Patients are welcome to bring in any food and drink that they would like to have during their treatment.
Parking is free and covered parking is available at the rear of the building. Direct access to the second floor can be obtained by parking on the top deck of the parking garage. The site is wheelchair accessible.
