Carrie Friedman, RN, BS
Patient Care Navigator,
Inova Thoracic Oncology Program
One of the special features of the Inova Thoracic Oncology Program is our patient care navigator. We feel our patients deserve and benefit from a "concierge approach" to visits with their specialists. Carrie Friedman, RN, BS, helps facilitate that process.
Carrie is a registered oncology nurse who expedites patient visits and diagnostic studies. She ensures a timely and accurate exchange of information among the referring physician and the program team members throughout a patient's diagnosis, treatment and recovery.
Carrie joined Inova in 1998. She has worked in a number of specialized areas, including the oncology unit at Inova Fairfax Hospital and Inova’s acclaimed transplant program.
Carrie was drawn to her role as patient care navigator after observing the healing role of patient navigators in other coordinated Inova cancer care programs. She enjoys working with the world-class physicians at Inova and helping patients understand their own care pathway.
Carrie earned her bachelor of science degree in health sciences and nutrition from James Madison University and her nursing degree from Marymount University.
When she’s not helping her patients, Carrie enjoys spending time with her family, biking, traveling and cooking.
