Working with the American Diabetes Association
Inova Diabetes Center works with the American Diabetes Association (ADA) on various programs throughout the year.
Step Out to Fight Diabetes
Each year Inova and its employees are proud to participate in the ADA's "Step Out to Fight Diabetes" fundraising walk, which raises millions of dollars nationwide to find a cure for diabetes. The 2013 walks were held in October at Fairfax Corner and the National Harbor. You can show your support for diabetes research, information and advocacy efforts by giving a monetary donation or becoming a team member for next year's events. For more information, check out the event website or call Inova Diabetes Center at Inova Fairfax Hospital, 1-877-511-GOAL (4625).
Tour de Cure
Inova Diabetes Center is partnering with Type 1 Friends to participate in the American Diabetes Association Tour de Cure. The tour is a bike ride, not a race, with routes designed for everyone from the occasional rider to the experienced cyclist. Over the past 20 years, the Tour de Cure has raised millions of dollars to support the mission of the ADA: to prevent and cure diabetes and to improve the lives of all people affected by diabetes. The 2013 tour was held on June 2 at Reston Town Center. To donate to the cause, check out the event website, American Diabetes Association.
American Diabetes Month
Inova Diabetes Center reminds you that November is American Diabetes Month. Watch for special promotions sponsored by the American Diabetes Association to bring added awareness to diabetes and the continued efforts to find a cure for this disease.
Supporting the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF)
The JDRF annual "Walk to Cure Diabetes," was held on May 19, 2013 at Ida Lee Park in Leesburg. The DC walk was held April 21, 2013 at the National Mall. This annual event supports the mission of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) to find a cure for type 1 diabetes and its complications through ongoing research. Diabetes summer camps are a great way for children with diabetes to learn more about their disease, gain independence from their parents, meet other children who have similar healthcare needs and simply have fun.
