IHVI’s Electrophysiology Program – which focuses on the study of electrical activity in the heart – is at the forefront of medical science in treating challenging heart rhythm disorders formerly considered inoperable or untreatable. Electropohysiologists at IHVI treat both adults and children and offer the latest in electrophysiological testing, treatment for cardiac arrhythmia, pacemaker or internal cardioverter-defibrillator (ICD) implantation and removal, and tilt table testing.
Internationally recognized Atrial Fibrillation Surgery Program
Inova Heart and Vascular Institute is also home to the Atrial Fibrillation Surgery Program, one of the nation’s most active and successful surgical programs to treat this most common form of irregular heartbeat. We perform state-of-the-art treatment options, including a minimally invasive Maze surgical procedure. The program is a unique collaboration between Inova electrophysiologists and cardiac surgeons who work with a patient’s primary care physician to develop and implement the most appropriate treatment plan.
