Ratoblator® (Rotational Atherectomy)
Ratoblator®, also referred to as rotational atherectomy, helps open blocked
coronary arteries and restore blood flow to the heart. This procedure utilizes a
high-speed rotational "burr" coated with microscopic diamond particles on the
tip of a catheter. It rotates at an incredibly high speed of about 200,000 rpm
to break blockages into minute fragments that are smaller than red blood cells.
The fragments then pass harmlessly into the body’s circulatory system.
Rotational atherectomy is often performed along with angioplasty for the best
results.
