Shahzad Ahmad, MD, FCCP, is associate medical director of Inova Advanced Lung Disease and Transplant Program at Inova Fairfax Hospital.
Dr. Ahmad received his medical degree from King Edward Medical College in Lahore, Pakistan. He completed his internship in internal medicine at Nassau County Medical Center, East Meadow, New York. He completed his internal medicine residency and pulmonary and critical care fellowship at Mayo Clinic, Rochester, Minnesota. He also completed a fellowship in heart-lung and lung transplantation at Stanford University Medical Center in Palo Alto, California. He is board certified in internal medicine, pulmonary Disease and clinical care medicine.
Dr. Ahmad’s clinical interests include lung transplantation, pulmonary hypertension and interstitial lung diseases. He is a member of several professional medical associations, including American Thoracic Society and International Society for Heart and Lung Transplantation. He has contributed to several publications in peer reviewed journals. He is interested in bringing novel therapies to patients with advanced lung diseases, and participates in a number of clinical trials for these diseases.
