How do I get started?

We encourage you to sign up for a free informational seminar to meet one of our weight loss team members and learn about the program. If you are ready to begin your weight loss program, complete our registration process and start your journey. Contact us at 703-348-4716 if you have any questions.

How much does the program cost, and what does the price include?

The program cost starts at $999* and includes all the education, tools, tips and motivation you need to begin losing weight and meet your weight loss goals. You receive a full body composition analysis and laboratory tests to assess your current health and nutritional status. You will attend 12 weekly educational and exercise classes that include a weekly check-in, a "Tools for Success" lecture by a weight loss specialist, and an exercise session led by an exercise physiologist or personal trainer.

Participants also receive two private sessions with a dietitian, a personal fitness assessment with the exercise specialist, and a helpful notebook to gather all the tips for success and other educational materials you will be given over the course of the program. Once I register and pay, what comes next?

To begin the program, you will be contacted to set up an appointment with one of our weight loss physicians. If you prefer, you may choose to see your primary care provider. The physician will discuss with you your goals and medically clear you to begin an exercise program. Lab tests and an EKG are also included. Your insurance will be billed for the physician visit and you will be responsible for your co-pay. The cost of the lab tests is covered by your insurance.

What is covered during the weekly class?

Each class includes a 30-minute "Tools for Success" lecture by a weight loss expert. Come ready to exercise because you will have fun exercising in a group class under the guidance of an exercise physiologist or personal trainer who will show you how to start burning those calories!

Are weight loss medications an option?

We hope to give you the tools you need to be successful in your weight loss efforts without using medication. However, if you wish to discuss weight loss medication during your physician consultation, please indicate that in the comments section of your online registration form.

Will my primary care physician be kept informed?

If you provide your physician information, we are happy to keep him or her informed of your progress.

What if my HMO does not permit me to see a non-network physician? Or what if I prefer to see my own physician?

We will work with your own doctor. However, you will be responsible for obtaining the necessary lab tests, EKG, waivers and any other necessary forms.

How is my insurance company involved?

Medical supervision from our weight loss physician (bariatrician) throughout the Medical Weight Loss Program is an important part of your program. The required physical, blood work and EKG can be performed by your own primary care physician or the bariatrician and will be billed to your insurance. The initial screening and any follow-up visits with the bariatrician will also be billed to your insurance.

If you have an HMO or other type of insurance requiring a referral from your primary care physician, please obtain the referral before seeing the bariatrician. Please note that co-pays may apply for all physician visits. The bariatrician will be available at the program weekly evening sessions for additional guidance. Additionally, your insurance may also cover additional appointments for nutritional counseling beyond the two appointments included in the program.

Is there a guarantee?

The Medical Weight Loss Program team will do everything it can to help you reach your goal, but there is no guarantee. After 12 weeks, you can choose to re-enroll in the program or you can schedule additional consultations with the dietitian, exercise specialists or counselor. We highly encourage you to enroll in our Continue Your Success program as your maintenance program.

What happens if I miss a week due to illness, etc?

We hope your weekly class becomes a priority in your schedule. But if you do miss a class, you may contact us at 703-348-4716 so we can provide you the handouts and worksheet for that week.
