Inova Alexandria Hospital's unique neurovascular care unit is fully dedicated to the care of stroke patients, patients 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The unit provides complete stroke care, from diagnosis to treatment, rehabilitation and ongoing patient and caregiver support.
Inova Alexandria Hospital is a designated Primary Stroke Center. This gold seal of approval from The Joint Commission recognizes facilities that make exceptional efforts to foster better outcomes for stroke care, meeting the unique needs of stroke patients. A cross-functional team — including specially trained rapid response stroke nurses — provides coordinated care.
Inova Alexandria Hospital recently received a bronze "Get With The Guidelines" award from the American Heart Association and the American Stroke Association. The award recognizes facilities whose stroke assessment and services give patients the best chance of survival. Inova Alexandria Hospital is the only hospital in Northern Virginia to receive this award.
