Amsler Grid Eye Exam

The Amsler Grid may be helpful in revealing signs of wet age-related macular degeneration (AMD). It is not a substitute for regularly scheduled eye exam/tests.

Directions:
  1. Wear your reading glasses (if you have them).
  2. Stand at a comfortable reading distance (12") from the grid in a well lighted room.
  3. Cover one eye with your hand. Look at the center dot at all times. If you notice any area on the grid that is blurred, distorted, discolored or missing, you may be exhibiting signs of AMD and should contact your ophthalmologist promptly.
  4. Do this test for each eye separately.
