Returning to Work

Man working at deskHeart problems do not keep you from returning to work. However, many individuals have anxieties about their employment. Your Inova physician will provide feedback on when to return to work and on any physical limitations that you may need to have. Going back to your job can offer the satisfying feeling of resuming a more normal life.

Many individuals return to work on a part-time basis at first. This alleviates symptoms of fatigue and allows a gradual return to normal activities. A cardiac rehabilitation program can also help by increasing physical energy and confidence.

If job-related stress is a concern, it is time to tackle stress management as one way to reduce your cardiac risk factors (click on stress management for more details).
