Common Sleep Disorders
You or a family member may suffer from more than one type of sleep disorder. The Sleep Disorders Center is equipped to diagnose more than 80 common disorders, including snoring, sleep apnea, insomnia, nightmares, sleep jerks and narcolepsy.
- Snoring and Sleep Apnea: The most common cause of daytime sleepiness
usually results from snoring or pauses in breathing during sleep, called
apnea. We offer a variety of treatments for this condition, based on
your symptoms and treatment preferences.
- Narcolepsy: This under-diagnosed but very prevalent sleep disorder
is characterized by the sudden onset of sleep while active, and by muscle
weakness during strong emotion.
- Insomnia: Insomnia is the inability to fall asleep. It takes many forms, has many causes and is treated in a variety of ways. All of these treatments are available at the Sleep Disorders Center.
