Pediatric Services
We’re kid-friendly at Inova Loudoun Hospital. We offer pediatric services for our smallest patients in our: Level III neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), dedicated pediatric emergency department and our pediatric inpatient unit. Our experienced pediatric staff is specially trained to understand the unique needs of children, like using smaller equipment for smaller bodies. Our commitment is to treat your child like one of our own.
Neonatal Intensive Care Unit
In our Level III, 7-bed NICU, specially trained registered nurses, respiratory therapists and board-certified neonatologists provide compassionate around-the-clock care for babies as early as 26 weeks.
Pediatric Emergency Department
A trip to the hospital can be really scary for children—with strange sounds, strange smells and strange people. That’s why we created the only dedicated pediatric emergency department in Loudoun County, designed to put our youngest patients at ease. And rest assured, as part of Inova Health System, we offer a seamless connection to Inova Fairfax Hospital for Children—the only children’s hospital in Northern Virginia and home to leading experts in over 30 pediatric specialties. Together, we work as an Inova team to deliver the expertise and compassion your family deserves. Through communication, electronic data transfer and guidance we are able to provide world-class care.
Our pediatric emergency department offers:
- A dedicated pediatric emergency care unit, open 24 hours a day, seven days a week
- Experienced, caring Pediatricians, are in-house 24 hours a day, along with staff certified in children’s care who understand a child’s unique needs
- Emergency nurses who are Pediatric Advance Life Support-certified and Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course-certified
- State-of-the-art medical equipment, sized to fit children from babies to teens
- A home-like atmosphere featuring family-style videos, games, books and toys
- helicopter transport to Inova Fairfax Hospital for Children, which offers Northern Virginia’s only Level I trauma center and pediatric intensive care unit, if a higher level of care is needed
Pediatric Inpatient Unit
If a hospital stay is required, we’ll continue to provide a warm and caring environment in our 7-bed pediatric inpatient unit—staffed 24/7 with our Pediatric Hospitalists and pediatric trained nurses and technicians. We provide a family-centered atmosphere that encourages comfort and healing. Each room is private and features its own full bathroom.
Coming this fall we will be opening a brand-new pediatric unit that will continue our family-centered care and will feature 14 private rooms—large enough to comfortably fit parents and siblings. We will also have a play room and family lounge to make sure we provide all the development needs of our younger patients.
