Treatment Program
Once you are referred to the center, you undergo a thorough diagnostic examination to identify the type of wound you have and the underlying problems causing the wound. Once this diagnosis is made, a program specifically tailored to your needs and based on the most effective treatment options available is initiated. A multi-specialty approach is used to provide the maximum benefit to your wound. Many diagnostic and treatment methods are available including:
- Laboratory evaluation
- Radiology
- Nuclear medicine
- Pain management
- Diabetes education
- Nutritional management
- Diabetic education
- Physical therapy
- Occupational therapy
- Hyperbaric oxygen therapy
- Dialysis
Once a treatment plan is initiated, you will visit the center on a regular basis for wound care and documentation of your healing. You will receive complete instructions about how to care for your wound at home between visits, as well as how to protect your wound from further injury. It is very important to remember that you are the most essential part of your healing process. Keeping appointments and following through with care at home are critical to your healing.
