Patrick Christiansen Named Administrator of Inova Heart and Vascular Institute

Falls Church, VA— Inova Fairfax Hospital is pleased to announce
that
Patrick Christiansen, PhD, has accepted the position of administrator of Inova
Heart and Vascular Institute. As administrator, Christiansen will provide
overall strategic and operational leadership for the Institute. He began his
duties February 5.
“We are very fortunate to have someone with Patrick’s experience in managing cardiovascular services join us,” said Doug Cropper, executive vice president, Inova Health System; administrator, Inova Fairfax Hospital Campus. “His leadership skills will keep the Institute at the cutting edge of emerging medical technologies and allow us to continually improve the way we help our patients.”
Since 2001, Christiansen has served as Vice-President, Operations at St. John’s Mercy Health Care, a 1,166-bed multi-campus health system in Creve Coeur, Missouri. In that role, he was involved in the strategic and operational turnaround of the organization, and was instrumental in planning and developing a 100-bed heart hospital which opened in June of 2006.
Prior to his role at St. John’s, Christiansen was a Vice-President at St. Edwards Mercy Health Network in Fort Smith, Arkansas, where he was one of the senior leaders involved with the planning, design and construction of three new centers of excellence: heart, women’s and ambulatory care. He has also held key leadership positions as Director, Psychology and Counseling, and Section Manager, Child Clinical Psychology.
Christiansen holds a Doctorate in philosophy and a Masters degree in psychology from the University of Arkansas. In addition, he earned a Bachelors degree in psychology from Arkansas Tech University.
