Inova Fairfax Hospital Names Dr. L. Reuven Pasternak Chief Executive Officer

Falls Church, VA— L. Reuven Pasternak, MD, MPH, MBA, has been named the new
chief executive officer of the Inova Fairfax Hospital campus and executive vice
president of Academic Affairs for Inova Health System. This leadership role
includes oversight of Inova Fairfax Hospital, Inova Fairfax Hospital for
Children, and the Inova Heart and Vascular Institute. He will assume his duties
March 31.
Dr. Pasternak most recently served as executive vice
president and chief medical officer of Health Alliance of Greater Cincinnati, a
system of seven hospitals. In that role, he assumed overall system
responsibility for clinical service lines, quality of patient care, patient
safety and graduate medical education. In addition, he oversaw the growth and
strategic development of a 170-physician primary care
network.
Prior to his role at Health Alliance, Dr. Pasternak
served as Vice Dean of the Bayview Campus for Johns Hopkins Medicine, where he
oversaw clinical and education programs, and managed extensive corporate and
academic research activities, including those involving the National Institutes
of Health.

Dr. Pasternak served on active duty with
the U.S. Naval Medical Corps during Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm,
and retired from the U.S. Naval Reserve in 1998 with the rank of
Commander.
He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in international
studies and economics from Johns Hopkins University, and his medical degree from
Duke University School of Medicine. Dr. Pasternak also holds a Masters of Public
Health from the University of North Carolina and a Masters in Business
Administration from Loyola College.
