Interpreters
To ensure effective communication with patients, their family members, and companions who are deaf or hard of hearing, we provide appropriate auxiliary aids and services free of charge, including: sign language and oral interpreters, TTYs, note takers, written materials, telephone handset amplifiers, assistive listening devices and systems, telephones compatible with hearing aides, closed caption decoders, and open and closed captioning of most hospital programs. We also provide qualified medical interpreters free of charge for patients with limited English proficiency or who are deaf or hard of hearing. Patients, family members and Inova staff may request an interpreter 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. To request an interpreter, talk with your nurse or any staff member.
