Accredited by the Joint Commission
In May 2010, Inova Mount Vernon Hospital earned Primary Stroke Center Certification from the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations.
The Primary Stroke Center Certification program, which was developed in collaboration with the American Stroke Association, is a significant accomplishment. Programs applying for advanced certification must meet the requirements for Disease-Specific Care Certification plus additional, clinically specific requirements and expectations.
In April 2009, Inova Joint Replacement Center earned a Gold Seal of Approval™ for outstanding care in joint replacement procedures from The Joint Commission, the national accrediting organization for hospitals. Inova Mount Vernon Hospital is one of only six programs in Virginia to receive this distinction.
Premier Healthcare Alliance national Quest collaborative
Inova Mount Vernon Hospital was named a 2011 Top Performing Hospital in the Premier Healthcare Alliance's national Quest collaborative. Culminating a voluntary 3-year QUEST program, Inova participated in the exercise out of a commitment to patient best interests and a dedication to reducing preventable harm and readmission. Excellence in breast care
The Inova Breast Care Institute at Inova Mount Vernon Hospital has received a three-year accreditation for breast care from the National
Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC)
We have also received the gold seal of accreditation from the American College of Radiology for Breast Magnetic Resonance Imaging. The Breast MR Imaging Services at the hospital were surveyed by the Committee on Breast MRI Accreditation of the Commission on Quality and Safety and successfully passed the survey. The gold seal of accreditation means the unit meets the highest level of patient safety standards and image quality.
Certified Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy Program
The Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBO) program at Inova Mount Vernon Hospital is the only program in Northern Virginia accredited by the Undersea & Hyperbaric Medical Society, and one of just 600 in the United States to carry this quality accreditation.
CARF Accreditation
The Inova Rehabilitation Center at Inova Mount Vernon Hospital is accredited by CARF International, an independent, nonprofit accreditor of health and human services. The CARF accreditation process starts with a provider's commitment to continuous improvement and culminates with external review and recognition that the provider's business and service practices meet international standards of quality – with all the steps in between focused on optimal outcomes for the persons the provider serves and sustained organizational success.
