What Is Physical Rehabilitation Therapy?

Physical rehabilitation therapy promotes healing in people with orthopedic, sports or neurologic conditions, injury, or illness through a variety of comprehensive services:

• Physical therapy (PT) helps restore, maintain, and promote optimal physical function.
• Occupational therapy (OT) helps sharpen fine motor skills that allow people to attain the highest level of independence.
• Speech therapy (ST) helps restore the ability to produce and understand the spoken word.

Physical rehabilitation therapy also plays a significant role in preventing injury through strength and flexibility development and patient education.
