Our rehabilitation specialists are each trained in a specialized area of rehabilitative care, and each has unique talents and skills. We bring them together to work with the patient, the referring physician and the patient's loved ones. This rehabilitative care team plans an individualized program of treatment for each patient.
Together, team members consider the patient's medical status, abilities, disabilities and goals for a productive life. They determine what pieces must be assembled to build a brighter future.
The team includes physicians who specialize in rehabilitation and physical medicine - called physiatrists - neuropsychologists, rehabilitation nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech and language pathologists, case managers, social workers, therapeutic recreation specialists and dietitians. These are experienced professionals with different skills and strengths and a common goal: to help each person be as healthy, active and self-reliant as possible.
Patients and their families are an important part of the rehabilitation team. Patients are encouraged to ask questions, explore all their options and take charge of their own lives and medical decisions. In our experience, people are most successful in rehabilitation when they are working toward goals that are important to them.
