Inova WeightNET

Inova WeightNET is a comprehensive workplace care management program to address all aspects of weight management.

This gradual lifestyle change program assists with incorporating healthy choices into daily life, and therefore impacting weight. Inova WeightNET is progressive, goal-based, and tailored to meet an individual's need.

According to the Centers for Disease Control, two-thirds of the adults are overweight and almost one-third are obese. Obesity and overweight are serious health risks that have been associated with the rise in heart disease, back and neck pain, certain cancers, diabetes, arthritis, and depression. Obesity is second to tobacco as the leading cause of US preventable deaths and already costs $75 billion a year for related health conditions. The National Business Group on Health estimates the cost of obesity to US companies at nearly $13 billion annually and over 9 percent of total health care expenses.

Research studies have demonstrated that assessment and monitoring with dietary, behavioral, cognitive, social/cultural and activity therapy for at least six months are all required parameters for a successful weight loss program. Weight maintenance programs require assessment, monitoring and relapse therapy for three to five years.

Inova WeightNET assists employees to lose weight and maintain their weight loss through a long-term comprehensive program. Proven strategies are tailored to individual participants based on assessments of health risks, learning styles, readiness, lifestyle patterns, and knowledge. Participants receive nutrition and activity education, cognitive and behavioral training, as well as goal setting and process monitoring via classes, emails and online. Inova Care Managers provide individualized coaching to each participant.
