About Leonard Ilkhanoff, MD

Dr. Leonard Ilkhanoff is a clinical cardiac electrophysiologist specializing in the treatment of heart rhythm disorders. He is board certified in cardiovascular disease and clinical cardiac electrophysiology. He joined Inova with more than 19 years of clinical experience. Dr. Ilkhanoff served as an Assistant Professor of Medicine at Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine before joining Inova.

Dr. Ilkhanoff is an expert in the management of a wide array of arrhythmias, including atrial fibrillation (Afib) and ventricular tachycardia. His expertise also includes complex arrhythmias, genetic disorders and the prevention of sudden cardiac death.

Dr. Ilkhanoff’s research and clinical interests focus on underlying risks contributing to arrhythmia susceptibility, especially Afib, and sudden cardiac death in healthy and diseased populations. He has published widely in peer reviewed journals and serves as an active investigator in a variety of clinical trials and research studies on stroke, heart failure, ablation and device therapy. He is a regular reviewer for various medical journals including Heart Rhythm Journal.

A native of the Washington, DC, area, Dr. Ilkhanoff is happy to be closer to home and his extended family. He speaks Farsi, Assyrian, and some Spanish.
