About Sheri A. Lofton, MD

Sheri A. Lofton, MD is a board-certified family physician specializing in integrative medicine within the Inova 360° team. Dr. Lofton is dedicated to partnering with each patient and walking with them on a journey to health – as both a guide and fellow traveler.

Dr. Lofton believes healing occurs when patients and physicians partner to create shared goals for healing. She is committed to open communication and encourages patients to take an active role in their health, bringing any concerns they may have to visits as they examine habits and set goals for areas in need of change. As an integrative medicine physician, Dr. Lofton views each patient as a whole person – attending to the mind, body and spirit – and focuses on her patients’ overall wellness and health. When necessary, medical solutions recommended may include a combination of Western medicine and other healing traditions.

Dr. Lofton’s medical special interests include chronic medical conditions that are brought on or worsened by lifestyle choices. She works with patients to develop practical solutions in overcoming barriers to maintaining a healthy lifestyle. In addition, Dr. Lofton enjoys helping patients find balance in their lives, utilizing the mind-body connection as it relates to health, such as reducing discomfort or disease and increasing overall health and well-being.

Several years into her medical practice, Dr. Lofton noticed many patients were interested in non-traditional medical approaches such as supplements and herbs, massage, acupuncture and Reiki or healing touch. In order to best partner with her patients, Dr. Lofton trained through a fellowship at the Arizona Center for Integrative Medicine, a program founded by Andrew Weil, MD, an integrative medicine pioneer.

Since 2012, Dr. Lofton has been practicing integrative medicine, providing patient care including wellness promotion and the diagnosis, treatment and management of disease.

Dr. Lofton has a Bachelor of Science degree in zoology from the University of Wisconsin where she was recognized for her academic excellence as magna cum laude of her graduating class. She went on to earn her medical degree from the Medical College of Wisconsin and was awarded the Jack Hanus Award as an outstanding senior medical student. Dr. Lofton completed her family medicine residency at Columbia Hospital in Milwaukee, Wisconsin where she served as chief resident of her program. During her residency, she was presented with both Columbia Hospital’s Second and Third Year Family Practice Resident Awards, in addition to the American Academy of Family Practice Resident Excellence in Research Award. Most recently, Dr. Lofton completed the 2011-12 Arizona Center for Integrative Medicine Bravewell Collaborative Integrative Medicine Fellowship at the University of Arizona College of Medicine.

Dr. Lofton is grateful for the privilege to care for patients and looks forward to the opportunity to partner with those who are seeking health and wellness.
