Inova Occupational Health is currently looking for a part time Radiology Technologist to come be a part of our incredible team of patient focused occupational health professionals in our Montgomery County clinic. This position is Monday - Friday day shift with an expectation of approximately 20 hours a week 

As a Radiologic Technologist, you will provide clinical services according to radiology practice standards. To help achieve our mission, you will administer sound patient care practice according to hospital and department policies/procedures to ensure the safety of patients.  In this role you will  also be required to complete ancillary tasks to ensure efficient and consistent departmental operations while demonstrating the initiative for self-development, to ensure proficiency of staff with new technological changes, is required.

Job Responsibilities

  • While adhering to department policies and protocols by ensuring all examinations are optimized for interpretation, and sound patient care is practiced confidently operates radiological equipment and demonstrating a thorough understanding of radiologic principles, theory, anatomy and pathology processes by utilizing the most appropriate techniques and/or positioning for optimal examinations. Also Demonstrates proper technique for injection of IV contrast under the American College of Radiology guidelines.
  • Assists physicians in performing a variety of examinations by using standard department protocols, isolation precautions and/or sterile technique.  Tracking patients according to departmental procedures.  Correctly identifying them and their files while ensuring a high degree of accuracy. 
  • Communicate effectively with patients to obtain clinical history and informed consent from patients' and/or patients' charts to assist physicians in optimizing the performance and interpretation of examinations as well as explaining procedures to patients/families and answers any questions to ease anxiety and assure patient cooperation.
  • Demonstrates the ability to recognize clinical and/or emergent problems that may interfere with exams and takes appropriate action to resolve them and produce the most desirable outcomes.
  • Demonstrates the effective use of radiation protection procedures with collimation devices and protective shielding, maintaining exposure readings within the "As Low As Reasonably Achievable" limits. Reports, documents and corrects any adverse, unsafe or unusual condition.
  • Maintains equipment, exam rooms and work areas in a neat and safe condition, ensuring that rooms are appropriately stocked with supplies for procedures. Operates Imaging and other related equipment according to manufacturers' specifications. Troubleshooting equipment effectively and reports equipment to Biomedical Engineering and/or vendors. Performs/recognizes the need for routine maintenance of imagers/processors to maintain consistent quality images. Identifies errors and takes immediate action for corrections.

Additional Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited radiology school or program. Associates Degree preferred, but not required.
  • Two years of combined classroom and clinical training in radiology is required along with recent experience in a hospital/healthcare environment as a Radiologic Technologist or student.
  • Active Virginia Radiology Technologist Licensure in good standing
  • Must have ARRT upon start
  • Must possess American Heart Association BLS Certification
