As an Echocardiogram (ECHO) Vascular Technologist, in accordance with established practices and procedures. you will perform echocardiograms and vascular ultrasound procedures of the carotids, peripheral and abdominal vessels to assist physicians in the diagnosis of disorders/diseases affecting circulation. To help achieve our mission, you will produce two-dimensional ultrasonic recordings and Doppler flow analyses of the heart and related structures. Your ability to ensure that all ECHO and vascular laboratory studies are scheduled in an appropriate manner to satisfy the clinical situation is of vital importance. Explaining procedures to patients to obtain cooperation and reduce anxieties is expected.

Job Responsibilities

  • Calculates, measures and documents appropriate values on the tests performed for review and interpretation by physicians.
  • Communicates with physicians, managers and coworkers, as appropriate, about changes in patients' clinical conditions while undergoing echocardiogram or vascular studies.
  • Demonstrates a thorough understanding of IV's and central line usage as they pertain to diagnostic medical sonography.
  • Maintains the echocardiogram/vascular laboratory quality assurance database.
  • Prepares and maintains operational logs.
  • Calibrates/maintains equipment and orders supplies when needed.
  • Demonstrates proper techniques for injection of IV contrast, or other test enhancing solutions, under the Society of Diagnostic Medical Sonography Standards.
  • Performs diagnostic echocardiograms, carotids, abdominal aorta screenings, ABI and arterial studies of upper and lower extremities of patients with suspected peripheral vascular disease by following ICAEL and ICAVL guidelines and in accordance with the echo/vascular laboratory protocols.


Additional Requirements
  • Education: Graduate of an accredited Ultrasound program or five years of directly relevant on the job training.
  • Years of Experience: Minimum two years of experience in an Echo/Vascular Laboratory.
  • Certification: ARDMS Registered with RDCS Certification or CCI Registered with RCS Certification for Echo. Must be ARDMS with RVT or CCI with the RVS Certification for Vascular or Registry eligible and must obtain within two years of hire. BLS required.
