Job Description

As a Laboratory Supervisor, you will be responsible for adhering to technical and scientific standards while serving as a clinical/technical resource and coordinating quality activities. To help achieve our mission, you will design team member schedules and assignments to ensure the proper and timely completion of work, the health/safety of team members and the overall efficient operation of the section. Assisting in the development of budget and financial targets is expected. Your ability to maintain personal/professional development to ensure effective job performance to contribute to organizational effectiveness is required.

Job Responsibilities
  • Conducts team member counseling, coaching and disciplinary sessions. Handles team member relations.
  • Takes ownership for the selection of methodology and instrumentation to perform Laboratory tests appropriate for the patient population served.
  • Ensures participation in and successful completion of a quality control and approved proficiency testing program commensurate with the services offered.
  • Maintains high visibility in work areas and provides leadership for daily operational issues for teams across all shifts and throughout assigned areas.
  • Coordinates efforts of team to maintain and/or implement changes in work processes to ensure high quality outcomes and meet established success indicators.
  • Critically analyzes patient data to formulate hypothesis and suggests testing protocol for physician to follow in confirming patient diagnosis while ensuring proper utilization of services.
  • Coordinates compliance with accrediting agencies and implements quality improvement program of assigned areas. Monitors industry trends and recommends appropriate responses.
  • Verifies test procedures performed and establishes the Laboratory's test performance characteristics including, but not limited to, the linearity, precision and accuracy of each test and test system.

Additional Requirements


  • Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college/university in clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, Chemistry, Biology, or Physical Science.

Years of Experience

  • Minimum 4 years experience


  • ASCP Certification consistent with the scope of responsibility (MLS/MT,MLT, HT, HTL, BB, C, H, M, CT), or American Medical Technologists (AMT), or Laboratory Technologist Certification (HEW).
