Full-Time Behavioral Health Manager for the Inpatient Adult Psychiatric Unit

The Behavioral Health unit:

  • With the demand for behavioral health services continuing to grow, IMVH will extend our 30-bed behavioral health unit to 50 beds by early 2023.
  • The new 20-bed unit is designed with the specific needs of this specialized population in mind. Additionally, the current behavioral health unit will also be upgraded and modernized.
  • IMVH behavioral health team received the 2021 Guardian of Excellence Award for Patient Experience from Press Ganey. This accolade recognizes organizations ranked in the 95th percentile amongst other healthcare facilities across the nation.

The Manager Inpatient Operations is a highly collaborative, non-clinical administrative role to assure operational excellence and optimize nursing operations in a dyadic relationship with the department Clinical Director. Assumes oversight of non-clinical staff and activities and manage cost-effective flow of materials, resources, people, and information through the department.

Job Responsibilities

  • Promotes and protects unit culture that is congruent with Inova’s mission, vision, and values by modeling consistent high-integrity behaviors, counseling, mentoring and coaching staff to enable world-class care, maximize efficiency, enhance morale, and create a positive working environment.
  • Maintains strong interpersonal relationships with providers, clinical and non-clinical team members and leadership to build strong team atmosphere, psychological safety, and excellent team member and patient experiences.
  • Works collaboratively with applicable stakeholders in business planning, service recovery, human capital planning, program evaluation, and change implementation.
  • Assumes direct supervisory responsibility for unit secretaries, administrative assistants, and administrative coordinators dedicated to the department.
  • Supports personnel management for staff to include timecard maintenance, scheduling, staffing, PTO requests, productivity, and other administrative matters.
  • Responds with proactive and timely solutions to workflow/process-related and/or recurring problems. Facilitate urgent and appropriate escalations for quality- or safety-related risks. Develop workflow/process improvements to drive efficiencies and performance.
  • Partners with clinical director to stay abreast on system/site of care initiatives to represent the department as a key contact, facilitator, communicator, and liaison to the rest of the health system, including other departments, ancillary services, and system office.
  • Effectively delivers relevant information, storytelling and messaging back to Clinical Director and/or team members.
  • In conjunction with Clinical Director, completes performance evaluations, employee relations, coaching, counseling, and indicated disciplinary actions for non-clinical personnel.
  • In conjunction with the Clinical Director, selects, hires, and coordinates or provides training for new non-clinical personnel.
  • Monitors and tracks adherence/compliance to documentation requirements, internal protocols and accrediting and hospital policies.
  • Monitors and tracks team member experience outcomes and patient experience performance.

Requirements:

Minimum Education-

 

Masters Degree

 

Applicable clinic or management field.

 

 

Minimum Years of Experience 

Minimum

5

Nursing

Mental health or applicable discipline with experience in managing mental health programs.

 

 

 

Minimum Certification Required 

Minimum

Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation

Upon Start

BSI and CPI within one year of hire date.

 

 

 

Minimum Licensure Required
     

Current VA licensure in discipline as appropriate (LPC, LCSW, LMFT, LCP2).
