Job Description

We are currently looking for a full time Occupational Health Leave Processor for Montgomery County. 

The Leave Processor Occ Health has the ability to serve as subject matter expert assisting to process and approve applications for FMLA and the County's Sick Leave Bank Donation program. Ensures turnaround time is efficient and within parameters set forth by county and federal regulations Maintains high standards for processing and accuracy. Regularly supports department relationship with employers and clients. Ensures timely feedback through county tools. Demonstrates and reliably provides support and assistance to department colleagues to ensure smooth and efficient operations

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Verifies receipt of all FMLA applications, forms or verbal requests. Purges outdated requests.
  • Able to multitask and prioritize responsibilities in a fast-paced environment in order to maintain efficient daily work flow.
  • Accurately performs complex calculations to appropriately approve leave donation applications.
  • Maintains current knowledge of employer/federal party regulatory requirements.
  • Processes application requests (FMLA, Sick-leave donation.) and assures proper approvals; disseminates approved forms to the appropriate departments.
  • Accesses department database to obtain relevant information for service coordination.
  • Proactively manages applications. Applies professional/technical knowledge, skills, experience and judgement to achieve excellent customer service.
  • Adheres to set procedures for creating and updating client records.
  • Understands the origin and reasoning behind key policies, practices and procedures in order to interpret and articulate to management and staff. Recognizes when to escalate issues to the County Disability Program Manager, Direct Manager, Physician team or other appropriate parties.
  • Ensures complete confidentiality and integrity of the applications received and processed.
  • Reviews, determines appropriate disposition of, and responds to in-person follow-ups, calls, mail, fax, e-mail, and voicemail communication.
  • Confirms all required forms are completed by client.
  • Assists with reporting requirements to FMCSA, County Departments and other key stakeholders as needed.

  • Follows standard operating procedures for Sick-leave donations & FMLA.
  • Follows standard operating procedures for Sick Quality controls applications for accuracy and stores applications using standard county protocols and year-end audit process.
  • Performs self audits of database entries to ensure the accuracy and completion of employee records.
  • Seeks out training and learning opportunities in order to advance understanding of HR policies, FMLA and county regulations overall.
  • Responds to employee and department concerns and suggestions in a timely manner to achieve positive outcomes. Escalates concerns or issues as appropriate to department leadership.
  • Prepares materials for and attends training sessions in coordination with County Disability Program Manager.
  • Provides back-up coverage for other clinic team members when necessary.
  • Works with physician and clinical staff to ensure timely entry into the national registry for commercial vehicle drivers.
  • Participates in the development of department policies and procedures, as well as department standards of quality occupational healthcare.
  • Offer constructive solutions for enhancing department operations and efficiencies.

Requirements

  • Minimum of an Associates Degree in healthcare, business, HR or related field
  • 2-3 years of HR experience. Experience with FMLA strongly preferred.
  • HR Generalist/Management Certification or PHR preferred
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills to include the ability to effectively communicate information in a clear and concise manner.
  • Advanced MS Office skills. Electronic Medical Record (EMR) experience preferred as well.
