Job Description

As a full-time, As an Interventional Radiology Technician 2, you will provide high quality imaging using various modalities such as neurovascular and endovascular angiography examinations. To help achieve our mission, you will collaborate with teams to collect data pre/post-procedure and prepare patients for procedures in Cardiovascular and Interventional Radiology (CVIR). Safely and competently operating all radiographic, processing and inventory equipment in CVIR is of vital importance. Acting as a Liaison between physician, family and other interdepartmental units is required. Participating with teams in unit assignment quality assurance projects is expected.

Job Responsibilities

A day in the life of a Interventional Radiology Tech 2 can look like:

  • Effectively utilizes Inova Health System Inventory Management systems.
  • Assists RN to accurately explain procedures to patients and family to ease anxiety.
  • Troubleshoots equipment effectively and places service calls to Biomedical when necessary.
  • Anticipates procedure flow and works with other team members to produce the highest quality care.
  • Provides a safe environment and identifies hazards immediately. Follows unit protocols to take corrective actions as needed.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in imaging modalities in Cardiovascular and Interventional Radiology such as digital, laser printing and cut film.
  • Showcases an advanced knowledge of sterile techniques while assisting and supporting interventional radiologists during procedures.
  • Demonstrates proper technique for injection of IV contrast, or other test enhancing solution, under the guidelines of the American College of Radiology (ACR).

Additional Requirements

  • Work schedule: Full time
  • Education: Graduate of an accredited school of Radiography.
  • Experience: Minimum one – three years of work experience as a Cardiovascular Interventional Radiology Technologist.
  • Certification: BLS; ARRT registry in Vascular Interventional (VI), Cardiovascular (CV) or Cardiovascular Interventional, BLS by the AHA
