The Treatment Area Coordinator initiates and expedites all lab work and radiology orders for Emergency Department patients. Prepares and updates daily on-call physician roster and contacts physicians as directed. This role also maintains current information and status on every patient in treatment area.

Job Responsibilities

  • Ensures lab, radiology, and EKG orders are accurately completed in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Follows up on lab and radiology results for waiting patients efficiently to minimize waiting time.
  • Emergency and urgent orders are accurately completed in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Updates physician on-call roster daily.
  • Replaces referral cards as appropriate as evidenced by observation.
  • Locates physicians within 30 minutes of request or apprises Emergency Department physician of delay.
  • Alerts nursing staff of all orders written by physicians in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Reports abnormal lab values and radiology readings to the Emergency Department physician or Charge Nurse to facilitate appropriate patient care.
  • Makes room assignments for admissions and arranges transfers to other facilities following established guidelines.
  • Other duties as assigned.



Additional Requirements

Hours/Location: Regular PT office hours weekday (In Person) - Mount Vernon

 

Education: High School Diploma

Experience: One year in a comparable position
