Great opportunity to join an outstanding team-oriented environment!  The Free-Standing Emergency Room in Fairfax City is looking for an experienced ED RN Unit Supervisor for a full-time Mid-shift opening (12p-12a).  This is a good next step position for nurses interested in nursing leadership.  

Must be able to work full time (3x12 hr shifts).

◦Fun and autonomous place to work; can be busy-requires staffing of skilled experienced ER RNs
◦24/7 lab and radiology
◦Staffed by Board Certified Emergency Physicians and Nurses
◦Friendly community clientele who know staff by name
◦Patient experience scores in the 99th percentile due to efficiency of care and skill of staff members

Preferred candidates will have one year plus of ED Nursing experience

Responsibilities include:

  • Front line leader who is accountable for delivering highly reliable results related to Quality and Best Practices to improve clinical operation of the unit,
  • Embraces; uses and understands the research behind nursing practice and quality tools.
  • Supports unit-based shared governance and decentralized decision-making structures and processes
  • Role model who leads by example in delivering Service Always and in making Patient Experience a priority on unit(s) of responsibility.

Requires at least one year of Registered Nurse Clinical experience

  • More than 2 years of Registered Nurse Clinical Experience specific to the focus of nursing unit preferred
  • Associate Degree RNs within one year of completing their BSN
  •  BSN or MSN preferred
  • Completion of revised Charge Nurse Workshop within the first 90 days
  • Previous leadership courses preferred
  • BLS required. Specialty certification (as required by unit) within 1 year of hire
  • • Licensed to practice as an RN in the Commonwealth of Virginia
  • • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • • Exhibits leadership ability that fosters teamwork and retention.
  • • Demonstrates professionalism and ability to remain calm and lead in dynamic and busy situations.
  • • Proficiency in computer skills, Microsoft Office and healthcare software required.
  • • Strong problem-solving capabilities and prioritization; can serve as a resource and mentor to other clinical staff on the unit.
