The  Medicine Service line is seeking a Program Director of Non-Surgical Weight Loss / Obesity Medicine! 

The primary responsibilities of this role include: 

  • Responsible for overseeing all MSL employed physicians and advanced practice providers (APPs) working in Inova Weight Loss Services
  • Partner with SSL to support Inova Surgical Bariatric Program
  • Partner with nursing and or administrative leadership for oversight of care optimization and delivery, resource utilization and patient experience
  • Develops and updates care pathways to deliver clinical excellence using best available evidence
  • Partners with Medicine Service Line Director of Quality to develop and implement quality improvement processes and reduce variations of care
  • Partners with Medicine Service Line Director of Value to develop and implement high value care practices
  • Review and help resolve safety always events and formal patient complaints
  • Create a culture of psychological safety that empowers each team member to fully engage and deliver the Inova Care Imperatives
  • Lead specialty specific monthly performance, metric, and outcomes reviews
  • Partner with leadership across the enterprise to support and manage clinical programs, strategic planning, education, and research development
  • Participate and lead specialty specific councils and groups

      Qualifications:

  • Board certified/eligible in Bariatric Medicine
  • Licensed to practice Internal Medicine in the State of Virginia
  • Appointed to active medical staff annually with clinical privileges in medicine
  • Extensive clinical and administrative experience, as well as direct involvement in managing a clinical program and demonstrated medical staff leadership that includes:
    • Management style that emphasizes communication, collegiality, collaboration, flexibility and the ability to build high-performing multidisciplinary teams consistent with Inova values.
    • Commitment to continuously improving clinical effectiveness, including quality, safety and patient experience and elimination of unwarranted variability.
    • Business acumen, management skills, and fiscal knowledge.
    • Experience as a community physician, or extensive dealings with community physicians, and an understanding of private practice.
    • Ability to mentor, develop, inspire and lead medical and support staff, establishing a culture of accountability and teamwork among a diverse, highly qualified medical and support staff.
