Job Description

As a Patient Financial Services (PFS) Cash Credit Certified Analyst, you will ensure optimum performance of automated systems relative to the Revenue Cycle by assisting Inova Health System Information Systems in maintaining and implementing Epic systems and databases. To help achieve our mission, you will facilitate updates, new releases and system enhancements. Your ability to work with Information Systems Analysts on Information System projects/products related to the Revenue Cycle is required. Ensuring the proper/timely resolution of and flow of accounts through various specialty work flows through the monitoring of key process points, file transfers, account activities, account actions, work queues, collaboration with vendors and other means is of vital importance. Using knowledge, analytical skills, experience and training to perform duties as assigned in a timely manner while meeting applicable productivity and performance standards is expected.

Job Responsibilities
 
  • Provides Patient Financial Services (PFS) feedback to Information Systems to support system functions/enhancements based on review of functional specifications and documentation of systems/user procedures from Information Systems.
  • Identifies and resolves issues, errors, problems or other defects that are preventing accounts from billing properly and timely through the use of Epic work queues, other reports and/or Revenue Cycle tools.
  • Participates with Information Systems in all phases of review and testing of new Epic application releases and update/upgrade releases in the preparation of test data/scripts, development/execution of tests, verification of test results and user acceptance sign off.
  • Monitors assigned vendor activity including placement files, note files, close/return files and inventory (reconciliation) files. Performs necessary actions to resolve issues or problems with the flow of accounts to and from the vendor by working with the vendor, PFS, Information Systems and other internal/external customers necessary to resolve a process interruption/defect.
  • Performs all actions needed to ensure timely billing and resolution of client accounts to include ensuring the client receives a timely statement, working with the client to resolve any questions/issues and ensuring that all payments and adjustments are properly posted.
  • Provides feedback to the PFS Manager and other PFS leaders regarding trends, patterns, issues and defects that are identified during daily work, special projects or other activities.
  • Performs the duties of the Cash Management Coordinator including, but not limited to, working with Epic to identify/resolve performance issues, requesting/developing/testing/implementing updates and/or changes as well as producing weekly reports and ad hoc reports as appropriate or requested.
  • Utilizes exception reports, Reporting Workbench, Account Query or other means to identify and resolve accounts that have failed to initiate billing.


Additional Requirements

Experience:

Associate Degree or five years of experience in lieu of a degree.

Experience:

One – three years of experience in cash entry, Electronic Remittance Advice

(ERA) retrieval/posting, cash posting, banking lockbox support, revenue cycle, finance, customer service, data analytics, refund/credit balance review, system analytics or hospital billing.

Certification:

Epic Resolute Hospital Billing, Epic Resolute Professional Billing or Epic Resolute Single Billing Office Certification prior to start or within one year from date of hire.

Skills:

  • Ability to think critically and resolve accounts with minimal supervision.    
  • Typing and CRT skills. Knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access) or equivalent software.
