Job Description
As a Grounds and Equipment Operator, you will adhere to departmental/governmental safety standards as well as departmental and organizational personal appearance policies. To help achieve our mission, you will perform exterior custodial functions to provide a hazard free campus that is conducive to patient care. Your ability to repair and maintain asphalt/concrete pavements, parking garages, fences, retaining walls and other structures to provide a safe and aesthetic environment to patients, staff and visitors is of vital importance. Operating a wide variety of small/medium landscaping and construction equipment to support department and hospital operations is required.Job Responsibilities
- Adheres to a weekly schedule for policing of the hospital grounds and disposing of all trash from all receptacles located on the campus.
- Cleans and polices all hospital entrances and smoking shelters on a scheduled basis to provide a pleasing environment for staff and visitors.
- Patrols all parking structures on a weekly schedule and washes/maintains the parking garages, per a preventive maintenance program, to preserve the garages and retain manufacturer warranty requirements.
- Maintains and repairs the extensive network of sidewalks, steps and ramps to ensure the safety of patients, visitors and staff.
- Responds to requests for installation/removal of safety/security barricades or priority cleaning of broken glass or other undesirable situations that originate on exterior hospital areas.
- Obtains proficiency in the operation of all lawn mowing, edging, pruning and other landscaping equipment/tools.
- Provides professional care to campus trees, shrubs, flowers and turf to include soil preparation, planting, fertilizing, cutting, pruning, mulching and irrigating plant materials.
- Applies pretreatment for snow and ice prevention.
- Performs duties assigned in response to snow, ice, and inclement weather activities. Obtains proficiency in operation of snow removal equipment.
- Participates in response to emergency events exterior to the hospital, to include; erecting temporary structures, moving equipment, and set-up/take-down.
- Wears appropriate safety equipment and complies with departmental and OSHA safety standards at all times. Follows hospital infection control procedures at all times.
Additional Requirements
Education: High School Diploma/GED. Progress related experience may be accepted in lieu of education.
Experience: 3 years.
Licensure: Drivers license upon start.
