About the Fellowship program:
The RN Fellowship program will develop the necessary clinical skills to practice nursing in a competent manner within a specified service line. The RN Fellow, in an atmosphere of acceptance and support, will learn under the direct supervision of an experienced RN and through various other training formats. You will participate in learning , developing new skills, and meeting program objectives to be able to practice in assigned patient care delivery setting utilizing and applying new knowledge. You will be given time to learn, opportunities to practice, and mentoring. Communicate effectively with patients and families, team members and medical providers. Create a collaborative team working environment. Has respect for and understanding of clinical disciplines. You will use an focused, integrated approach toward improving patient outcomes and the patient experience of care deliver
The Inova RN provides knowledgeable and caring clinical practice and care coordination through an understanding of patient, family, nurse and healthcare delivery team. Consistently provides safe, therapeutic care in a holistic and systematic way. Incorporates differences into the provision of care. All patient care and interactions are patient and family centered. Integrates knowledge, skills, and experiences to meet the needs of patients and families throughout the continuum to include patient and family education. Communicates effectively and works cooperatively with others. Has respect for and understanding of other clinical disciplines. Uses an integrated approach toward patient outcomes. Nursing serves as an empowering body to influence patient empowerment as well as successful outcomes of financial and clinical quality through relationships and access based knowledge. Utilizes standards, guidelines, and pathways for care delivery. The process for delivery of care is synthesized from direct patient/family communication, technology, and other healthcare team member collaboration. Ensures improvements in practice settings by assuming responsibility for self-development in life-long learning. Provides direction and guidance to others regarding practice; serves as a resource, preceptor, and mentor. Leadership skills demonstrated in decision making and problem solving. Assists in the delivery of direct patient care under the supervision of the Registered Nurse. Communicates and collaborates with care team members implement the plan of care to meet individualized and developmental patient care outcomes. Utilizes information to continuously improve patient care and practice to enhance outcomes Partners with Registered Nurse to create a professional development plan to provide employee with the necessary skills to deliver up-to date patient care.
Requirements :Requires more that six months of Registered Nurse clinical experience
- BSN or AD Required. If RN has an AD, you will meet with your nurse leader to:
- Identify which Accredited School the employee plans to attend
- Submit a review of transcript from the school indicating the required pre-requisites and timeline for taking the courses
- Provide a written plan with anticipated BSN completion date.
- Complete BSN within 24 months of start date RN licensed, or eligible to practice in the Commonwealth of Virginia as an RN.
- BLS for Healthcare Provider certification required
- CEN/ACLS certification desired.
- Proficient in English.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to display a caring demeanor toward others
- Proficient computer skills required.
