About Alexa Shea, MSPT, LSVT

Alexa is a physical therapist at the Inova Physical Therapy Center in Springfield, VA. She graduated from the City University of New York, College of Staten Island in 2001 with a combined bachelors/master’s degree in physical therapy. Since then she has worked primarily in private orthopedic outpatient clinics and was also a staff physical therapist at Womack Army Medical Center at Fort Bragg, NC.

Alexa has extensive training in manual therapy techniques. She enjoys treating patients with a variety of treatment approaches. She has trained with the Institute of Physical Art and the Mckenzie Institute to advance her clinical skills. She is also actively pursuing training with the Jones Institute where she is taking ongoing coursework in fascial counterstrain techniques. Fascial counterstrain is a gentle therapeutic hands on treatment to release fascial restrictions in multiple tissues and structures of the body. She is also an LSVT BIG certified clinician providing care for patients diagnosed with Parkinson's disease.

Alexa is originally from New York City and currently resides in Northern Virginia. In her free time, she enjoys cooking, baking, exercising and spending time with her family.
