About John Cochran, MD
Dr. John (Jack) Cochran is a specialty care physician board certified in neurology, clinical neurophysiology and sleep medicine and has been practicing medicine for more than 40 years.
He serves as Senior Consultant to the President of the Inova Neurosciences service line for Inova Health System, Chief for the Neurology section and Director of the Inova Neurodiagnostic Lab at Inova Fairfax Medical Campus, Medical Director for the Inova Stroke and Cerebrovascular Disease Program and is a member of the Inova Neurology practice. He is former President of the Medical Staff and former Chair of Department of Medicine for Inova Alexandria Hospital.
Dr. Cochran is also an Associate Professor, Neurology Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine Inova Campus.
He has served as the principal investigator in over 100 neuroscience-related research studies in a variety of areas including stroke, sleep, headache, pain, Alzheimer's disease and Parkinson's disease.
Dr. Cochran speaks regionally and nationally on the topics of stroke, headache, sleep disorders, concussion and pain.
His goal is to utilize his skills and expertise to help patients manage their conditions. His approach includes compassionate understanding of each patient's needs while developing a relationship that is personal and long lasting.
A native of Western Pennsylvania, Dr. Cochran currently lives in Oakton, VA. He is the proud father of a son and daughter and two grandchildren. In his spare time, he and his wife volunteer with dog rescue organizations.
