About Marisa Abegg, PT, DPT
Marisa Abegg, PT, DPT, grew up in Oregon and played soccer at Stanford University, where she received her Bachelor of Arts in Human Biology, Exercise Physiology and Human Nutrition. She was drafted into the Women’s Professional Soccer league following graduation, and played for the Bay Area Gold pride, the Washington Freedom and Washington Spirit before hanging up her cleats to pursue her goal of becoming a physical therapist. She attended Florida State University, where she worked with the women’s soccer team and graduated with her Master’s degree in Sports Science and Exercise Physiology. Shortly thereafter, she attended San Diego State University where she graduated as a Doctor of Physical Therapy in 2019.
As a physical therapist, Marisa hopes to continue her education specializing in sports medicine, orthopedic injuries and pelvic health. Her goal is to make a difference in the lives of her patients by optimizing movement and finding a way to return them to their passion without pain or limited function.
Marisa currently lives in Alexandria with her husband, son and dog. She enjoys running, hiking, spending time with friends and family, playing soccer, watching sports, and exploring coffee shops in her spare time.
