About Samantha Fierro, PT, DPT, CFMT
Samantha joined Inova Physical Therapy Therapy Center in 2012 and has been a proud member of the Inova family ever since. A native of Jersey City, NJ, Sam achieved her Bachelors in Health Sciences from Mercy College in Dobbs Ferry, NY in 2009 before completing graduate work to gain her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from the Graduate Center of the City University of New York Hunter College in 2012. Sam completed an immersive manual therapy residency program to hone and refine her skill with a focus in functional manual therapy through the Institute of Physical Art in 2014. Following completion of the residency program, she passed her certification with Honors to become a Certified Functional Manual Therapist in 2015.
Sam is currently a Regional Director for Inova Physical Therapy Center where she is fortunate enough to lead the Franconia/Springfield and Mount Vernon teams. Her passion for leadership is led by two skillfully dedicated teams that provide exemplary service – every time, every touch – to each person in the every community we have the privilege to serve. Her continued commitment to mentorship, clinical excellence, and career development led to Sam's role as Program Director for the Inova Orthopedic Physical Therapy Residency Program. In addition to her director role, Sam also serves as a Primary Faculty for the programs lab intensive weekend course series.
Sam is also a proud member of the teaching faculty the Institute of Physical Art serving as a Secondary Instructor for the PNF: Functional Neuromuscular and Motor Control Training and Core First Strategies courses , which bolsters her physical therapy practice by furthering her interest in efficient function with dynamic activities in all patient populations. As a former high school and college athlete, Sam's interests in orthopedics make injury prevention through core-first strategies a vital aspect of her clinical practice.
As an active member of Inova’ s Diversity and Inclusion Council, Sam seeks to create safe environments that promote education, as well as acceptance, and awareness for all team members and patients. Sam lives in Northern Virginia with her two active children and incredible husband. In her free time, she enjoys singing, community theater, and most of all, family game nights.
